Fundamentals of Boiler Training Course - Post Thoughts
The course was held at the Voco St Johns Hotel in Solihull, spanning over two-days with a mix of around 15, mainly engineers and site directors in attendance.
We kicked off the evening of the 15th with a networking dinner of attendees and course trainers, and good spirits travelled over into Day 1 which was aimed mainly at operators. Our lovely trainers, David Chapman and Dave Tilleard from Byworth Boilers opened the course and we also welcomed course trainer, Dr Ian Roberts from Robers Durur. Amongst the three of them, Day 1 covered the likes of Steam Basics, Fuels and Burners, Health and Safety around Boilers and Polices and Procedures.
TSA Events Manager, Laura-Jade Heseltine was also on site to ensure smooth running of the event and to keep the atmosphere buzzing! there was another dinner in the evening of Day 1 where steaks were very popular, particuarly with the guys from CLEAN!
Day 2 of the course, more tailored to managers, brought a mix of sessions to the table, including the role of the Manager and Boiler House Management. A session on Warm Up and Layup Procedures and the all important, Risk Assessment & Risk Management. We were then joined by TSA Technical Advisor, Richard Newton for an interesting session on Steam Industry Specifics.
And if that wasn't enough, the course delegates sat an exam set by Byworth Boilers, to check knowledge and understanding of the course. Upon completion they recieved an end of course certificate and left sunny Solihull smiley and happy!
Thank you to all of our speakers and attendees for making the event a success and to Voco St Johns Hotel for looking after us throughout our stay. We will be looking at running this course again in 2020, should the demand be there. We are also hoping to extend our partnership further with Byworth in running training courses and events tailored for you!
Do feel free to share experiences and pics of the training course via Twitter @textileservices - there is a also a selection of photos taken on the day as below.

On a lighter note we have noticed from our conference calls that certain members have guitars hanging behind them and it occurred that in the current climate we could all do with some light entertainment.
