LAUNDRY WORK AND SWINE FLU

Mike Palin, HSE consultant to TSA, has put together some notes regarding the handling of laundry work and contamination by swine flu. These are listed below -

Keep in touch with the local situation - many areas are still unaffected

Receiving/sorting area - monitor health of staff as ones most likely to be infected

Wash used laundry bags

Disinfect surfaces regularly

Provide workwear & changing facilities, masks, protective aprons and thin gloves - change them regularly

Operate a frequent and proper hand wash policy

Train staff not to throw work about whilst sorting/classifying - lift and place it with minimum disturbance
