COMPREHENSIVE BUSINESS AND TECHNICAL ADVICE ONLY A PHONE CALL AWAY ANOTHER NEW SERVICE FROM THE TSA The provision of key, value added business services to members has always been a priority for the Association. For some time the provision of additional resource and skill has been under active review. As all members are well aware, the cost of employment of full-time staff is an increasing burden on the overhead cost of every Company, but the need for expertise in specific areas never goes away. TSA has responded by appointing a team of experts with a wide knowledge of industry-related technical and business matters who will advise and act for members on specific, time-determined, problems and projects. Outsourcing is the name of the game across the entire business spectrum and we intend to make relevant skills and expertise available to our members in a flexible, effective and economic way. We already provide such an external resource for members with particular issues in Human Resources, through the valued expertise of Robin Rhodes. As a consequence of this strategic review, Mike Palin will shortly be leaving full time employment with the Association but will join the TSA Team of external consultants, as his work on the demanding issues of standards has largely come to a close and the remaining issues in Healthcare are more suited to provision from an external resource. Mike has been Technical Director of TSA for more than four years, following a similar senior role with the FCRA. He has served the TSA and the industry well and diligently, and his work with EU institutions, UK Government and international standards organisations has been outstanding. We are very pleased that our bold new approach to value added service provision for our members has two such respected figures as Robin Rhodes and Mike Palin in the team. Further high profile announcements will be made over the next few weeks. Consultants will be available with a wide-ranging set of skills, and these will be added to as need and demand arises. Apart from Human resources and Healthcare Standards, the pool will also include experts from Laundry Operations, Chemical Processes, Resource Management, Health, Safety and Environment, Fabric specification and quality control, ISO 9000, EN14000, Legal, Insurance, VAT and finance, Drycleaning Practice, Sales and Marketing, Web Site development as well as other relevant topics.
