Membership of the Textile Services Association is available to Laundries, Dry Cleaners, Textile Renters and their suppliers. Membership signifies that you are a responsible business, abiding by a Code of Practice drawn up in consultation with the Office of Fair Trading. Issues to be tackled during 2003 will include:-

the climate change levy and the compelling case for the laundry industry’s inclusion in the discount mechanism; |
| - |
the imminent implementation of the Solvent Emissions Directive which will require all drycleaners to register their businesses and to meet tough but achievable solvent mileage figures |
| - |
major changes to health and safety enforcement of drycleaners’ premises |
| - |
advocacy of transparently fair market testing arrangements for NHS contacts and the continuing battle with the disposables lobby to ensure that the interests of reuseable textiles are articulated when developing new standards on surgeon’s coverings and drapes |

advising members on the effect of the Employment Act 2002 which includes new rights for working parents and key changes to dispute resolution and grievance procedures |

the new powers of the Office of Fair Trading and the Competition Commission under the terms of the new Enterprise Act |

the growth of internet tendering for workwear contracts, and a possible legal challenge by the Association |

contesting the unjustified Anti-Dumping Duties to be applied to certain imports of made up cotton bed linen |

We are constantly updating and sourcing new benefits for our Membership and to represent the industry effectively, and with authority, we need the support of all responsible companies within the sector.
For a single unit drycleaner, membership starts at £157.50 + VAT (£185.06), that’s equivalent to just over £3.50 per week. We believe that the basic subscription rate** represents outstanding value for money for all the benefits gained by member companies.
